WSS 3.0 RSS Feed Reader Web Part

I was looking for a RSS reader web part for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and came across a RSS feed reader developed by Tim Heuer.

This handy web part can be found at CodePlex.

FeedReader is our most popular web part. With the world of aggregation getting more popular and more portals and mainstream internet media leveraging syndication feeds (aka RSS, Atom, etc.), there is a greater need to provide a home for this information. In SharePoint, a team site or your My Site provides a great landing area for you to represent your own personal/team space with relevant information...and leverage syndication feeds. FeedReader is a web part that can consume multiple RSS or Atom syndication feeds and represent it in a clear, concise web part view (with different view options). FeedReader was the first web part of it's kind. Unlike others (and the WSS XML Web Part), FeedReader was the first to allow multiple feeds in one web part, caching of information, collapse/expand options on the feed description, and filtering options.

WSS Search: Cannot be crawled

After reviewing our Application log for our SharePoint server I noticed the following entry:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Windows SharePoint Services 3 Search
Event Category: Gatherer
Event ID: 2436
Description: The start address sts3://server:port/contentdbid={GUID} cannot be crawled.

Solution:
Some of the web applications didn't have a site collection on the default root sites. To check this browse to your web applications e.g. http://server:port. If you receive a HTTP 404 error you'll have to create a site collection for the web application.

To create a site collection browse to SharePoint Central Administration > Application Management > Create Site Collection and create a Blank team site for the appropriate web application.

This should sort out the consistent warnings in the event log.
