Project Server 2007 queue "Getting Queued" error

If you have a job that is stuck in the queue in a "Getting Queued" state, follow these steps to remove it.

IMPORTANT: Cancelling this job WILL RESULT IN DATA LOSS.
  1. Log into PWA
  2. Go to Server Settings
  3. Under the Queue section, click Manage Queue
  4. Expand the Advanced Options section
  5. Check the option "Cancel jobs getting enqueued"
  6. Select the "stuck" job and click Cancel Jobs
  7. Have your PM save again
To avoid this problem in the future, make sure you instruct your PMs to wait until the bar on the bottom of Project Professional reads "Save job xx% complete. Expected Wait Time xxs". It is at this time that the job is in the queue and that Pro is no longer needed.

Hopefully this ‘Getting Queued’ Issue is still monitored after 5 years! 

Two Scenarios for 'Getting Queued' job states
1. So we also encounter the Getting Queued Job State on a bogus Project Save when Project Professional 2007 crashes. It seems that even though the PM has closed their active plans in Pro that for select clients Pro crashes when selecting File-->Close. On restart Project Pro then attempts to save the last active plan even though it's already closed. Obviously since the client has closed the plan and Project Serve cannot communicate with the active plan on the client the forced Project Save job in Project Queue sits in a 'Getting Queued' state. Cancelling the bogus Project Save job and Forcing in the bogus Checked-out plan resolves the issue. Deleting the 'Local Project Cache' folder through Explorer reduces the Project Pro crashes for the impacted clients

2. Client has plan open and attempts to save or publish plan. The information bar never moves beyond ‘Synchronizing Data to Server’. The Project Server Queue list the Project Save job as ‘Getting Queued’ which never progresses. Again I believe this is a client side issue with Pro and the Local Project Cache Folder losing communication with Project Server. However the result is the same to the client. Cancel the Project Save, Check-in the Project and delete the client’s ‘Local Project Cache’ folder through Explorer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
David
